Our October film will be Mr Burton (12), based on the true story of a young lad called Richard Jenkins who went on to become one of our most famous actors, the legendary Richard Burton.
But how did he make the leap from a nondescript, troubled schoolboy in 1940s Port Talbot to such a huge star of stage and screen? Enter Philip Burton, the teacher who was to have such a profound influence on him (played by the “superb” Bafta-winning Toby Jones).
Harry Lawtey is “a revelation” and remarkable lookalike as the young Burton and Lesley Manville is as wonderful as always, this time in the role of supportive landlady.
With four stars from Radio Times and The Times and 4.3/5 audience ratings we’re looking forward to this one!
