The new Mayor and Deputy Mayor have been elected for the civic year of 2025/26. Cllr Mandy Brar takes on the ceremonial role of Mayor of Windsor and Maidenhead from her predecessor, Cllr Simon Bond, after previously serving as Deputy Mayor while the role of Deputy Mayor goes to Cllr Sian Martin.
The new Mayor, Cllr Brar, was first elected to the Cookham Parish Council 33 years ago and the current term is her third as borough councillor for Bisham and Cookham Ward. The new Deputy, Cllr Martin, was first elected to the Belmont ward in 2023.
Cllr Brar has been an active member of the community for more than 30 years. After moving to the UK as a child, she grew up in Cippenham, Slough and attended local schools. Later, she opened a successful retail store in Maidenhead which she ran for 34 years. More recently, she is an active member of Wild Maidenhead, Cookham Dean Horticultural Society and the Royal British Legion.
Cllr Martin has a background in arts and graphic design, and runs a successful business with her husband, Tim Martin. She has supported many charities through her design work and continues to work closely with charities in her role as councillor.
